And is it Worth the Wait?

I've continued to work on Florence in wax, but the wax is a dark brown which I haven't figured out how to photograph it so that you can see what it is. I had hoped to get her finished in time for the Spring Show, but that's looking more and more impossible if I don't want to start abandoning my actual classes for my last semester at AAU. (Which I don't!)

Currently, the "to-do" list includes:

  • Take photo reference for the right foot position
  • Resculpt finger of right hand
  • Resculpt right sleeve drapery (it just wouldn't cast properly as a whole, so I cast the wax in two halves and have to put them together)
  • Clean up - meaning go over the surface texture and fix any stray drops of wax, bumps, dents and so on.
  • Model surface - meaning smooth, rake, or otherwise adjust the surface's finish
  • Design a base out of wax
  • Attach legs to base
  • Cast the pieces in bronze
  • Weld the bronze pieces together
Think all that can be done before April 25th? Hmm.
