The progress won't be as noticeable as I get into more detail and refinement. According to my sculpture teacher, the first 85% of the sculpture is built quickly, but the last 15% of the sculpture will take half of the hours put into it. 68 hours so far, so that means 68 hours to go? Unfortunately the other photos didn't come out very well.
I've also been told it will be any where from $1500 to $2000 to have this sculpture cast in bronze. Even though it's a burden on a starving art student, I feel like what this sculpture represents can only be accurately depicted in the classical bronze.
Florence + the Machine's music, to me, has come to symbolize the pursuit of your dreams, strength of character, and hard work paying off. I'm sculpting Florence Welch in addition to being a full time art student and part time art instructor. I traveled 2 hours to San Francisco to sculpt for 8-10 hours in one day, costing me a little over $60 a week in travel expenses for an entire semester. The goal is to have the sculpture cast in bronze by April 25, 2015, my birthday.
